Veritas Wine Bar

When it's been a hard week, take a load off at this quaint little spot with a glass of wine and some of the best bar snacks in town. The wine here is limitless. You can buy a bottle and drink it there or take it home with you for some after-hour enjoyment.

When you walk through the door you instantly feel like you are in someones den that just happens to include your favorite bottle of wine. The couches and chairs are just as warm and inviting as what you are drinking. All of the art on the walls is local and if one happens to catch your eye it is for sale.

Aside from excellent wine they have just updated their drink list with the best beers in town. I usually have to make a run to "Whole Paycheck" to pick these guys up... not anymore!

Just to name a few:
(My #1) Spaten Optimator - Germany 7.2 %
(My boy's #1) Pabst Blue Ribbon - Illinois 4.7%
Lindemans Framboise - Belgium 4.0%
Oaked Arrogant Bastard - California 7.9%
Old Chub - Colorado 8.0%
Fullers ESB - England 5.9%

Dallas-Sight: Jump Rope Guy

Meet the Jump Rope Guy. He jumps about on the Katy Trail off of Knox to the beat of his own tune. Nothing stops him as cars roll by and bikes zoom around him. He puts the bounce back in my day every time I see him. The best is when it gets hot and he wears his 80's jogging shorts and knee high socks. If your lucky, you'll catch him out. I even take an occasional detour just to see if I can catch him.

More to come...

Skeet Skeet at Elm Fork Shooting Range

Skeet shooting is a great reason to head outdoors and release some stress from the following week on clay. Until recently, I had never shot a gun in my life and I have to tell you; it is the most insatiable feeling you'll get. Especially once you get the hang of it and really start shooting them one after another.

Don't worry about being an automatic pro. They offer lessons in private and groups ranging from $60- $100. I didn't do so hot my first time around... maybe 10 out of 50. Yet, the more I come here the better I get. Also, if you do not have gun don't worry. You can rent one when you get there.

Here is a picture of my first time out. Im more than sure this is not the correct posture and despite not shooting really anything that day, I had a blast! Last weekend we took the trail where they give you a golf cart and set up 10 stations that shoot the skeet through different obstacles. This was really challenging but way worth the fun and the unexpected 'coming out of no where' clay.

To all my fellow dog lovers... they are pet friendly! I would make sure you bring a leash and keep the crazy youngsters at home. (Wouldn't want any accidents)

Check out their website at elmfork.com for more information on prices and lessons.

Geauxn To The Hurricaine Grill

Recently, I have found myself spending quite a bit of time at the Hurricane Grill. This little place is somewhat difficult to find among all the bars on lower Greenville but once you find parking and a seat you are up for a great time.

My first experience involved a couple of hurricanes, which by the way are D-liche, chatt'n it up with a couple of locals and hooking my friends up with so
me cute girls. This is when I learned that this is where the locals (Greenville and M-Street) go to hang out and be low key. We were invited to game night by the sweet girls we met but were having such a great time we just could'nt leave.

They have about 5 or 6 big screens that are never dedicated to just one game. Last night we watched the Lakers and kept up the UFC fight. Don't worry gals, instead of gluing the boys to the TVs during the commercials they play 'bumpin' music so you can get your groove thang on!

"The Hurricane Grill, a New Orleans Oyster Bar, which specializes in Cajun Cuisine, is located on Lower Greenville, between The Blue Goose and Terelli's. The Hurricane's establishment provides a fast, friendly atmosphere and is the kind of place where a party, with food, is always happening. Hurricane Grill has Live Entertainment (live music) 7 days a week from 10pm-2am. Never a cover charge!

A Late Night Menu is available 7 Days a Week, until 1:30am
Happy Hour is 11:00am - 7:00pm, Mon-Fri., as well as other various daily "drink specials" Hurricane Grill Website

The food was excellent and the drinks made just the way you like them. I would recomend the mac & cheese and the fried pickles to start. Two thumbs up came from my cajun crew and I will take their word for it - you should too!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Just saw the new X-men movie today. I give it two thumbs up.

Van Wilder guy was in this one and I have to say he played the exact same guy but it was suitable for his role. Wolverine was mans best friend and it explains why he cannot remember how he came to be.

Ill put up a preview... let me know what you think when you go see it!
